Peter JFM Lohuis is an Attending Surgeon on the Head and Neck Service at The Netherlands Cancer Institute/Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital in Amsterdam and on the Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Unit at the Diakonessen Hospital in Utrecht. He completed his surgical training in Otolaryngology/Head Neck Surgery at the Medical University Center of Utrecht where he also obtained his PhD degree. Additional postgraduate training included a fellowship in Oncological Head and Neck Surgery, in Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery and in Microvascular Head and Neck Surgery and Reconstruction.
He is reviewer of many scientific journals and also served on several Editorial and Review Boards. His
CV includes approximately 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals, several book chapters, and two textbooks.
Dr. Lohuis has been awarded many honors throughout his career and served positions in the board of directors of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS) and the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies (IFFPSS). He is organizing director of several scientific and instructional courses, is examiner for the European Board Examination in Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (EBEORL-HNS); and the Board for Certification of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (BCEAFPS) and trains fellows in both Oncological Head Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery. He has been an invited guest lecturer in numerous countries on many different scientific topics. However, his main field of interests include ablative oncological head and neck surgery, ear surgery related to skin cancer of the external ear canal, reconstructive oncological head and neck surgery, skin cancer and skin cancer reconstruction, facial nerve paralysis rehabilitation, rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction.
